A conscience is an inner thought that might help one decide whether something is right or wrong depending upon the person point of view. The book BODEGA DREAMS by Ernesto Quinonez illustrated a variety of characters which describe how one might use their conscience depending upon their needs. Chino, one of the main characters, struggle with his conscience whether he should join Bodega so to reach a faster and easier way to get a better life but meanwhile he also knows that by doing so he could get himself involved in a life that wouldn't be safe and secure, either for him , his lover Blanca and/or his future baby. Chino knows that if he reach out the help that Bodega is offering he would not have to deal with hard-working anymore and although that might sounds like an excellent offer for him he knows that his wefey Blanca wouldn't allow him to do so because sometimes the faster way is not usually the safestes one. Therefore Chino decided that even thought going to college seems like a really slow way to reach his dreams is better doing it so to maintain his family safe.

the faster way is not always the safe one

11th Grade American Literature--- What does it mean to be "American"?
Welcome to Mr.Tumbarello's 11th Grade Blog for those students enrolled in 11th Grade English 5,6. I look forward to reading your responses and reactions to classroom discussions. This blog will also give everyone the opportunity to share their new discoveries while navigating the World Wide Web.
Great job Satcha. I wonder if Chino will reconsider or regret his most recent decision. We'll have to see. 4.
ReplyDeleteI really like your answer and your quote "the fastest way is usually not the safest way". I do agree with you because Chino is trying to get the easy way out but he doesn't really want to work for Bodega. After getting Vera and Bodega together he didn't want to work for Bodega but did not know how to say no. Now after the disaster of their burnt house Chino needs Bodega more than ever.
