Quotation Response #1 - Miguel R.

"If you love somebody, let them go. If they return, they were always yours. If they don't, they never were."

It simply explains that if the willingness of that person that "loves" you to return to you after leaving shows their passion or ambition to be with you. In the book Bodega Dreams, Willie Bodega released the one he truly loved, Vera, to marry another man. It seems as if she is coming back into his life and their love has not disappeared. If Bodega olans everything accordingly to her arrival and is able to confront then he may have his shot at true love once again since his days as a Young Lord.

-What kept Willie's love for Vera still in affect?
-Does Vera still have the same feelings for Bodega since teen years?
-What may occur if Bodega is able to confront Vera and express his emotions/thoughts to her?

  1. 1) Willie probably never doubted for a second that maybe Vera won't come back, that she will definitely return, despite the 10+ year gap.

2)If we follow what Willie bodega has said, yes, she probably still has those feelings she did back during the days of the Young Lords, despite being married to a filthy rich Cuban.

    3) Again, following Bodega's viewpoint, a resounding yes. She'll definitely jump on the Bodega wagon. The whole Drug Lord thing might traumatize her a bit, but she'll probably overlook it because he's doing it for what Willie thinks is a greater good.

  2. Basically if Vera goes back to Bodega they had love for each other all this time. However, if she rejects Bodega then it was a one sided love. Pretty intense stuff.
